[Washington D.C, June 1, 2012] Progressive political pundit Thom Hartmann has recently dubbed him the "idealist's idealist." The Dalai Lama has called his work "remarkable." For over 30 years, producer and playwright D.R. (Don) Thompson, has been no stranger to activist material geared toward messages of peace and social justice.  In the 1980’s, his anti-nuclear war play L.A. Book Of The Dead – first performed at the famed Ensemble Studio Theater – was hailed by the Los Angeles Times as a work that “brings home nuclear reality more than any American theater piece.” In the 1990's, Thompson went on to write Tibet Does Not Exist, which played off-Broadway and received national attention and acclaim (CNN, Good Morning America, The New York Times) and became the best known play about the Tibetan issue.

A success as a filmmaker and producer, Thompson's award-winning film Clouds was co-produced by Will Arntz of the What the Bleep film fame. Together with former prisoner of conscience Ngawang Choephel, Thompson also co-produced the acclaimed documentary Tibet in Song, winner of a Special Jury Prize at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival and the International Human Rights Film Award from Cinema for Peace.

His latest project is a collection of essays titled A World Without War. The book chronicles important political and cultural issues and trends post 9/11 -- all with Thompson's unique and independent perspective that often puts a completely new spin on familiar topics. Displaying a combination of wit, insight and courage, the author delves into a wide range of cultural, political and economic topics. Moving beyond left and right, Thompson asks us to find common ground based on shared human values. A World Without War is at once unabashedly honest in its holistic analysis of important issues and optimistic in outlining a poignantly hopeful view of a potentially peaceful world.

A World Without War is currently available on Amazon through Del Sol Press. Thompson continues to promote and produce humanitarian-themed films through his production company nextpix (www.nextpix.com) and blog SolPix.
